Coolant leak on thermostat

Post by Liamd » Sun Nov 27, 2022 2:59 pm

Hi,

I've recently replace my coolant thermostat and after a week or so noticed a small amount of fluid under the car. I got under the car and looked up and noticed liquid on the electrical connector of the coolant thermostat. The thermostat is brand new and I don't understand how it can be leaking from an electrical connector. There is no other wetness anywhere else, there is also some white residue around the top of the connector, can anyone help me fix this?

Hard to tell from your photo but isn't that the electrical connector on the temp sensor?
If so then it'll be the o-ring seal round that which is leaking and making it look like it's coming from the plug.

It's this thing.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234671812800 ... R7a0t5qXYQ
Note the o-ring seal near the end of it.
You can find just the seals, but for the price of it I'd stick a new sensor in.
Dozens on eBay.

Thanks for all the replies. I was planning on sticking a new expansion tank on, so when I do that, I'll whip the thermostat of as well and replace that.

You don't need to take the thermostat off, just replace the sensor.
