Getting back to the football for one moment:

I thought Bellingham was fantastic! Trippier and, of course, Saka (I'm a Gooner) played very well.
Iran are not exactly Brazil, or Belgium, but England looked good IMHO.
Holland v Senegal was a snooze fest for 85 minutes.

Looking forward to see how Wales get on tonight.

Same every 4 years. Win one match against poor opposition and that's it! England will obviously win the World Cup........................
Still think quarter-finals would be good.

What is it with you lot and English football?
I don't shout for the other team when the British curling team come on during the Winter Olympics and they are all Jocks...

The problem, as always mate, is the English media and pundits and their arrogance. Were it not for that i'd happily support you.

Once we get passed the USA and Wales, the real football begins so you won't have to wait too long.

I am one of those who are not watching it. Shouldn't have been awarded to Qatar, not because of it being Qatar but the corruption in them being awarded it. Secondly the England team taking the knee puts me off entirely.

It's one thing scoring six goals against Iran but letting two in.............? Doesn't bode well for when we meet the big boys. I hope I am proved wrong but I don't have confidence with Maguire at the heart of the defence.

TBF they only let one in, the penalty was a bit 'strange' in the 150th minute, especially after the non-pen earlier which was much more blatant.
And they were 5-0 up; game was won. Admittedly, don't think that is an excuse, as these are supposedly top players.
Our defence in general has been poor of late. Hopefully we can score more than we let in each game; then we will win the world cup!!!!!!!

Could be something to do with Pickford being over emotional and playing for a weak team in the Premiership... never had much confidence in him at the best of times but this season he should never have been picked as 1st for England.

TBF the Welsh made them look good first half.
Wales played a typically 'English' World Cup opener IMO.
First half was terrible, then after a kick up the arse at half time, realised they were actually playing an important game and got better.
Ramsey played the worst I've ever seen him play for the whole game. Bale made a lot of errors too.
