CarPro UK 3.0 Ceramic Coating

Post by True-Blue » Sun Nov 13, 2022 5:59 pm

Second batch of this I’ve bought, considered other options but decided to stick with this and very happy I did.

A couple of observations for anyone considering this kit.

Firstly, it comes with 5 applicator suedes and one large levelling/removal Suede. For a car like the Z4, 5 applicators is just about enough, but one removal cloth isn’t.

The reason for this is that although the coating is relatively ‘forgiving’ it does start to harden on contact with the air. On this basis, if you’re going to do a whole car, chances are the removal cloth will have sufficient microscopic ‘hardened’ particles after 20 minutes or so to mar the paint, putting in scratches after you polished them out.

This is also true of the applicator cloths, but you do get five of those. Again, it’s important to not use one for too long, or on too many panels. The applicator cloths set solid after a few hours, so using one for too long will also likely mar/scratch the paint.

Anyway today’s results, really pleased but must properly clean the grills and exhaust tips

I bought their spare pack of cloths, 50 applicators and 50 big cloths. I really like the big cloths they have and use about 5 on a car. I have never done it on my own though as with two is so much easier when one applies and the other wipes after timing it.

Yep, I used 5 of the big suede removal cloths today, 1 per applicator Suede…they are very nice to use to level out and remove high spots

Another lesson from Mr shiny!
I love shiny, and you are the man! :yeah: . May need to address the exhaust tips though, ML, they let it down a bit.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

E89 20i Now fully dried

Yep…. I said as much in the last line of my opening post, …and the grills on the front are badly in need of proper cleaning and treating with something to make them look black again

Plan for this weekend was the paint though, and that has been achieved :)

I’m tempted to change the upper grills for some gloss black versions.

I used this stuff on my Mrs white Kia nearly two years ago and it’s still brilliant today, it works nicely on white too 8)

Car looks beautiful. Great finish. We have new Mini Countryman coming in December and I am just debating whether to take it to a detailer to have some sort of a coating applied.

Thank you

I’d definitely go for ceramic coating, but you could easily do it yourself and save money. Needs time, patience and a dry environment- this stuff needs 48Hr initial curing time in the dry, hardens fully in about a week.

There are other ceramic ‘light’ spray options which will give decent protection and are easier to use… might be worth looking into those

It is still working great on the Jeep after 3 years. Only used their Reset Shampoo and once the CarPro reload and it still beads like mad.

Yes, I use the ‘Reset’ too, but haven’t topped up the Kia with anything at all and still working brilliantly
