Carbon Fiber Rollbar Hoops

Post by spitfun » Sun Nov 13, 2022 2:39 pm

I thought I would post these rollbar hoop covers I installed. I think they look great and they just snap on if you want to go back to stock. I got them from Tekarbon for $250.00,which I thought was pretty cheap. They have factory model numbers on back and they just cover the original part with carbon fiber at the factory-they do replace the original part. I am not looking for opinions on how they look,my last post got kind of heated with negative comments-I just put them on here for other members to see if they would like to do them on their cars.

I don't think it got 'heated' at all.
You asked for opinions and that's what you got. No-one was rude.
Those who didn't like it simply agreed it was your choice, not theirs.

FWIW I like the roll hoops.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

I'm definitely going to do the same and get carbon roll hoop covers. I hate the OEM brushed silver ones - I think they look cheap as hell. I've seen other folks painting them gloss black which I think looks really good too.

Don't worry about opinions, everyone on here has em, and I think some people are pretty rude with it. It's different strokes for different folks. Do what you want with your car, mate. And keep sharing! Plenty of us on here who appreciate seeing what people do with their cars.

I'm interested to know what the box is hanging from your garage ceiling. Is it a heater?
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

I had my rollbars and mirrors painted black to match the bodywork. And the front splitters and the US wing reflectors too. I find too many different colours and patterns mess with the car.

The box you see in the above pic is one of my speakers. This picture shows my heater,in front of the speaker.

Nice! That's what they did with mine. I would like to try doing that someday,I would like to cover the center silver bezel surrounding the shifter. Is it hard to work with?

It depends what you mean by hard. Its not a simple quick job and due to the individual processes it takes 4 or 5 days to complete every part (unless you do them all at once)
I had never done it before but watched and read a lot before jumping in.
You just have to be careful when handling the carbon cloth so not to pull it out of shape and follow all the steps to the letter.
The roll hoops were the hardest parts I skinned due to the curves after doing the rest of the interior trim.

I have a kit I bought years ago from I believe CarbonMods,I may give it a go on the center console, that's where I have the most wear.

All I can say is to take your time and follow all the steps, do not try and cut corners.
