Refit xenon bulb spring clip

Post by plenty » Thu Nov 10, 2022 5:34 pm

My clip (the one with the two prongs and which attaches to the xenon bulb holder and keeps the bulb in place) detached itself during an attempted bulb replacement and I can’t figure out how it goes back in.

Any ideas?

Refit xenon bulb spring clip

Answering my own question in case anyone searches for this topic in future.

The spring is reversed in the above pic. It inserts into the spring-loaded bracket inside the holder which is at 1 pm in the photo. The spring hinges from the top.

And none of the how-to guides I looked at mentioned that the igniter has a rotating locking tab which must be unlocked before you can fit it. The below pic shows the tab in the locked position. The notches have to line up before the igniter can be correctly installed on the bulb. It is not possible to fit the igniter with the power lead attached as this locks the tab on. You have to install the igniter first, then the lead.
