Just when I thought I was on top of my oil leaks...

Post by Simiewimie » Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:33 pm

Just booked in to have the oil filter housing gasket replaced due to leakage and noticed that I still appear to have a leak on the engine.
I did the valvetronic gasket last week and that is now holding up great, but it looks as though I have a leak in the area below.
Can anyone tell me what the below part is that I think it is leaking from? I can't see anything else in that area that oil could be escaping from. :-|

Having had a further look around on the web it looks like that is the PCV valve? Also looks like it is not exactly a straight swap out. May be looking at a new rocker cover then... only had the gasket replaced a few months ago. :fightwall:

I've just cleaned it up and will check in a day or two.

When you take it to bits give it a good clean and check there are no cracks in the plastic, age and repeated heat cycles will cause the plastic to go brittle and crack, worked on a 2.2 Z3 that had this problem, the plastic was crumbling away around No4 plug well. Replaced with a used cover solved that.
