I have a G29 2.0 Msport and a screw in the side wall. How much for a new tyre????? Thoughts for a bog standard replacement.

Oh bad luck, depending how much tread you have left on the other tyre on the opposite corner it may well be two new tyres and if you switch brands or model you should definitely replace both.

If you don’t want to spend Michelin PSS money, the Goodyears F1 are a good alternative.

Yeah, bad luck, but as Sars says, the tread on the other tyre will make your decision if it’s a straight replacement or opportunity to change if you desire.

I’ve just replaced all my Michelin’s with Conti 7’s, much better tyre imo. Conti’s we’re also £300 a set cheaper than the MPSS’s

If you want the original tyre (star-marked Michelin Pilot Super Sport, PSS), these are the price of the tyres:

    Front: 255/35/R19

Would be interested in knowing how many miles you get from a set, Andy. My experience with Conti 5 and 6 was they wear much quicker than Michelin Pilot Sport.

Will keep you posted S. It was one of my bugbears about the MPS’s, the wear rate wasn’t great and when the prices came up, at point of change, the Conti’s were nearly a third cheaper. So I suppose going by very basic maths even if I get a third less miles I’m still in a cost neutral position but have had a quieter euro trip due to greatly reduced road noise. I must also say they’re more responsive than the Michelin’s, particularly on the twisty stuff, just had a better feel.

Also in general, especially at home, I don’t need to get them as warm when first starting off removing the dread of roundabouts and corners for the first 15 mins like the Michelin’s did

Good info Andy - thanks. To be fair to Michelin 11 years of development separate the PSS (launched in 2011) and the SportContact 7 (launched in 2022). The PS4S would probably be a fairer comparison, but even that is six years' older tech compared with the Conti.

My tyre was £230 fitted. So far have got around 18K out of all tyres and I reckon another 10K left so can't complain about life as my driving can be 'progressive'.

I got 7.000 miles out of Conti Sports 7's rears on my E89..about the same as I would have got from the MP4S..my driving is also 'progressive' :driving:  :tumbleweed:

I reckon on two sets of rears to one set of fronts..on Sports 7s..

I've done 3k miles on a new set of rear Goodyear Supersports and have about 3mm left (E85 Z4M).

To be fair most of those were progressive miles on highly abrasive Iberian tarmac in 25+ degrees, i.e. ultra-high-wear conditions.

On the 2015 Iberian trip I managed to shred a set of brand-new tyres on my Impreza in two days and 600 miles due to some particularly progressive driving.

Interesting ranking system on Tyre Reviews web site FWIW..

      https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre-Type/P ... nce-Tyres/

The Sports 7 is the current top dog on their ranking system

Tyre Reviewed Dry Grip Wet Grip Feedback Handling Wear Comfort
      Continental SportContact 7 (16) 98% 97% 94% 96% 88% 82%

All very close at the top end..age is not flaterring to tyre design..

      MP4SS

Tyre Reviewed Dry Grip Wet Grip Feedback Handling Wear Comfort

      Michelin Pilot Super Sport (141) 94% 84% 89% 86% 82% 81%

And to address Pondrew view on the OE runflat..

I had PS4S’s on the 35iS just before the G29. I never did many miles (<2k) but would still say the Conti’s a better tyre, noise, feedback etc. when/if it stops pishing down I’ll measure the Conti’s. They’ve done near on 5k of forum runs including the Pyrenees and they got a bit of stick and heat there

And I just got another puncture.
Hopefully can be repaired and I’ll find out later, but if not, looks like 2 new front tyres for me as I’m told you should t just replace 1 tyre?
