Royal Mail Saturday deliveries

Post by pvr » Tue Nov 01, 2022 8:51 pm

Talk is that they may stop that as the company needs to undergo changes - that is if the strikers haven’t already destroyed it.

I actually wouldn’t care as post nowadays is nothing like it used to be and it generally is the likes of HMRC that try to ensure that their nastigrams are arriving on a Saturday to ruin your weekend. Actually, I would quite like a weekend post free.

Does anyone care if there is a delivery anymore on a Saturday?

Not too bothered, however when you say post is not like it used to be, I was pleasantly surprised by it only today.
Around 9am yesterday morning I advertised a fuse box for sale. Zedebee said he'd have it and I posted it first class about midday. He received it mid morning today. Got what we paid for there.

I don't have any issues with the UK Postal services. I order stuff and it arrives on time. I post stuff and it gets there. I'm not trying to run a business around it though. HMRC also I find fine to deal with. Though I'm expecting a fun time finalizing my tax return this year. May be a good glass of wine.

I use the post all the time for my business and it's quite good, but it would be nice to have a Sunday collection and keep the Saturday delivery. HMRC are normally fine but they have misplaced last years corporation tax payment and are having real trouble finding it. :headbang: Luckily it was paid by Bacs so my bank has a paper trail proving they have had it.

Whilst not a big user of Royal Mail and the post office, my experience is only positive. I recently sold a pair of boots on eBay Sunday night, went online purchased the postage (next day before 13:00 because of the insurance cover), to Belfast, printed label, left in safe place on Monday, collected Monday and delivered Belfast 11:37 next day, couldn’t ask for more

I only use royal mail for stuff that isn't time sensitive... anything else I use courier. I guess the only time I'd need RM Saturday delivery is if I forgot someone's birthday and needed to get a card there, lol

Just had another family member retire from the Post Office at 55 on a FS pension (and of course took voluntary redundancy aswell to make sure she got a cash lump sum on top).
That makes 4 family members all retired from the PO in their fifties. All on FS pensions. 3 out of 4 took voluntary redundancy aswell. I think my family may be wholly responsible if they stop Saturday service. They've got to save some money somewhere to pay these massive pensions. :x :)

I'm not too bothered about Saturday deliveries, but they are handy for getting birthday cards delivered on or near the right day!

But if they get stopped at least we know who to blame now.
