INPA code 2CA9 / P0161 - lambda sensor

Post by rjhl64 » Mon Oct 31, 2022 8:41 pm

Is the code for the pre or post set of lambda sensors. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Regards
Raj

01/11/22 - reset the EML on Sunday afternoon, no issues so far, but i do believe the lifetime of the lambda sensors is about 250,000 Km, the car has done over that ~272,500 Km, so im guessing i will need to replace the two pre-cat, or play around with INPA to get better understanding of where the issue lies.

INPA code 2CA9 - lambda sensor

You certainly dont want the post cat sensors as one of them has been unavailable in UK for some time. But sorry I cannot translate that. I have to reset my EML periodically as my lambda sensor is the unavailable Bosch sensor. Strangely the light only comes on when using E5 fuel and not when I splash out on E10.
Might be worth changing your fuel if for instance you are using supermarket E10

Using google translator it seems that your after cat sensor bank 2 heater is not working.

INPA code 2CA9 - lambda sensor

Light came back last night on the way home from work, had another look at the error (more detail - Code P0161). I will try the suggested method of improved quality fuel (Mike6 suggestion), failing that i will need to source a replacement lambda sensor.

INPA code 2CA9 / P0161 - lambda sensor

update - as per the suggestion from Mike6, i ran the car over the weekend and covered ~160 miles+ (2 x 25 liters of super unleaded) and no light, so it seems my car doesn't like E10. Any changes and i will update, so far so good.
