Amen to that. Suggest being very careful.
I initially listed my job just as Investigator, when I listed it as Investigator NHS it dropped by £20. :o

Well my job title is company director so can’t really change that.
£1100 is a tad steep! I’ve looked around and the bmw flex insurance seems to be competitive.
I’ll try Chris knott and see if they get it any better.

Shame you can't do much about your occupation but Chris Knott got me decent prices a couple of times in the past.

Talking of occupation some years ago I had a part-time job delivering online shopping for a supermarket and when I answered "van driver" to the occupation question one insurer wouldn't actually quote! :o

But "retired" never seems to be a problem. :D
Coupes because stunning!

"International pleaser of ladies and competitive body builder" is never on the drop-down list. :?
It usually involves a very amusing telephone conversation with the girl in the call centre. I always get a good discount, though! :D
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

That is curb crawling so you never go faster than 5 miles per hour. Hence your low price, no risk of hitting anything :P

I changed mine to systems analyst instead of company director and my wife changed from company director to company secretary. Strange how that changes the premium so much.

So the valuation of the car was still as new so I modified it to the current market value and that saved me about £60 a year.
Adding a track would save another £50 a year, so really not worth it. At least it is down a bit.

Yes you can as company director isn't really a job so you can always change it to what you actually do.

I was a commercial finance broker operating through my own company but changed it to retired (which basically I am even though the company is still active) and my premiums dropped

I tried putting in surveyor, but it made no difference to the premium.

Speaking of trackers though. Why do you need to install a tracker when BMW can track the car anyway? Hell I can track it using bmw app.

Because in the idrive you can switch the tracking off. It sometimes accidentally happens on mine and I have to switch it back on again.

Surveyer is in the risky job business as per the high premium insurance categories. Guess they drive to risky sites and park in odd places sometimes. Have a look at that list of high premium and low premium jobs to see which one really matches best

While I’m sure you can switch it off in I drive,BMW could easily remote locate your car regardless of that setting. They could also remote disable the car.

Now, bmw flex shows you your risk score and it really is my location that is killing my premium.

pvr, just tried putting in my ex wife’s address in st Albans. Premium dropped to £600 a year! I love London, but that’s a hell of a penalty.

Regardless. I’ve got my premium done to £90 a month as opposed to the £100 insurance renewal.
Always best to be honest with insurance and I’ve kept it as company director.
It actually was the cheapest quote I could find without that horrid £900 excess.

My renewal notice came in today from Direct Line, gone down from £350 to £280!

Nice surprise.

A surveyor looks at things so why not use a different word to describe your occupation like voyeur :D
