Aftermarket TPMS sensors

Post by Pondrew » Tue Oct 25, 2022 4:44 pm

Has anyone bought aftermarket TPMS wheel sensors/ valves, from eBay or the like?
If so are they any different to the BMW items?
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

I was sold some aftermarket ones for the SL when I purchased the winter wheel sets, which were then recoded to BMW, they work just like the OEM’s

Aftermarket TPMS sensors

Post by Argyll Andy » Tue Oct 25, 2022 9:40 pm

Evening, not sure if you’re needing a set or individual but I’ve used this guy, and recommended him on here. He sells new genuine BMW ones in sets and singles.

I messaged him first to make sure it was the correct ones and he told me exactly what I needed. I think he does a set of 4 for about the same price as a single from a dealer. HTH

    Thanks both! :D

Andy, I'm looking at a new set of 4 as I am going to buy some new wheels but want to keep the old ones as is; as a spare set.

I will message that guy when I'm ready. Great help.

So am I right in thinking that the sets at £65 on eBay will need coding to the car? And the ones in the link from AA will be coded already and work out of the box? I'm guessing they all operate the same but with different signals for different makes and models?

I got some recently as recommended by AA. Just plug and play. No coding required

I honestly don’t know about the eBay/aftermarket ones but looks like from SARS post they can be coded. I went for the BMW ones as I was happy at that price knowing they would definitely work. They were installed on new wheels and then the TPMS system initialised like it would be when you get new tyres/puncture repair. Steve has experienced the same with the ones bought from the same vendor so seems pretty straightforward, but slightly more expensive if they’re only £65 for aftermarket ones but you may need to pay someone to code those?

I thought that too but couldn’t cope with it being a present/future/M6 (again :tumbleweed: ) purchase

I'm keeping the 4 series, so am looking at getting new wheels for it. Might make me love it more. :)
