Sorry to read this mate, but no injuries and that's what matters.

How did you control yourself for this long before posting the news . I suppose waiting to hear if it was going to be a write off . Well as already said time to move to the dark side and get a coupe especially as the weather is changing :) or something completely different . Glad you are ok

Will you get the option to buy it back as salvageable?
That was an option from the conversation this morning. I was not interested though. It just would not be the same car, to me, with an insurance mark against it. I have all winter now to think about what next. Might down size to a mk4 Mx5. I will certainly consider buying another ///MR as well.

Are you vulture-ing Ed?

Sorry about the M’s demise, at least sounds like you got a decent amount of money back now, more than would have been in the past

Nothing worth posting. It was dark, so the pics I took at the scene just show number plates and hazard lights.

Cheers Bing. Mrs G and I were reminiscing earlier about some of the many adventures we had been on with the ///MR.

Sorry to hear about the car :(
With regards to buying the car back, and I appreciate it is not for everyone, but buying it back to part out with a car like this is potentially a good financial option. I did this with a porsche I wrote off a long time ago and ended up doubling the cost of the buy back or something like that. But it's a pain in the ass so I can appreciate just moving on :driving: All the best with it.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Buzy, reminds me of Stuartt’s similar sounding accident with his 35i which was only really cosmetic (bumper/bonnet/wing) but that also wrote his car off
Welcome to try my e89 if you’re curious

Oh my god, how awful, so sorry to hear this, glad you're okay though. Saw this car at the Dartmoor run you organised a while ago, looked fab. How bad is it, perhaps it could be repaired to live another day?

Gutted for you John. You and that car certainly have some memories and miles behind you. You must have owned it as long as Ive been on the forum.

All I can say, is that if you're going for another //MR, don't wait to buy in Spring when prices will be up.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

It’s like losing an old friend. Non-car lovers don’t understand. But as everyone has said, the main thing is everyone is OK. Did you point out to the other driver the error of his ways?
