Car insurance and their random craziness

Post by mr.tourette » Sat Sep 24, 2022 10:50 am

I was very happy although somewhat confused insuring the Cayman as it being twice as valuable in the event of total loss and it being much quicker than my e89 23i it still was £80 a year cheaper, but of all the oddities that are mentioned by members going through the annual insurance rigmarole and the crazy reasons for increases or decreases this one I found the most amusing.. I've just got my new V5 so have gone to put on my private plate and apparently this entitles me to a 46p refund :D how and why this makes sense is beyond me but it did make chuckle at the sheer stupidity of how these companies work

Yip, my 718 Boxster was cheaper to ensure than my G29.
Abstinence is fine, in moderation.

Has your PP got less digits? It may be that it takes them less time to type it in so is cheaper...

I added business cover to my wife’s mini which added zero cost but also bought the on price down on my F11, work that one out.

No idea mate, but apparently to someone somewhere that is employed to do this stuff it apparently makes complete sense

They are crazy, I had an Elise 115bhp and paid £500 a year, if I purchased a 111r with 160bhp it was £350 and the reason, there are less of them available soles likely to get stolen.

DUH, how would a thief know the difference in the dark and in that case a Koenigsegg must £30 to insure

Same when I went from a 2.5si to the ///M, policy dropped by 20%

Also bought two Fiat 500s this year for twin daughters, ones a Lounge and the other a Sport. Both 1.2 manual with 69bhp and daughters obviously identical details. One costs £110 to ensure and the other £170.

The sport is the cheapest though (insurance group less) and I’m guessing it’s because there are a lot less of them around so get crashed a lot less by young drivers.

Insurance premiums don't make sense to me either these days.

My M is cheaper to insure than my 3.0Sis were - still I'm not complaining!

And weren't you in the industry for 65 years? It must be bad.
