Should this look like it does?

Post by Sidewaze Samm » Tue Sep 20, 2022 10:21 pm

What is this hose?
Is it originally flattened in profile?
If not, is it ok to be flattened/collapsed like this?
Are there any implications, and what would be symptoms of any issues?
Does it need replacing?

Car is 2005 registered 2.5 manual E85

cheers

Hm

Those pipes do collapse over time-

It’s worth replacing for new one as they do eventually impede braking performance
If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

Interesting, is it a vacuum assistance pipe feed from the intake which attaches to the servo/braking system to boost assistance?

Thanks for the confirmation. I shall be checking mine, definitely don't want that collapsing.

No it ain't.
It's a vacuum pipe that can no longer maintain it's structure under vacuum and has collapsed.
New one required.

Thought identifying it would be simple...
but it doesn't appear to feature in the first diagram. I think it attaches opposite number 2.

If so, does that mean it is number 7 in the second diagram? (It does indeed attach to a pipe)

I only have M54s to look at here, but it does look the same, so yes it is the hose that comes off the top of the 'sucking jet pump' (careful how you say that!).
On mine it then mates to a solid plastic pipe which goes to the servo.

Just put that number into google and it gave me this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Genuine-Roadst ... B07PVJHBHG
Unavailable but shows it is the correct pipe at least.
Incidentally, same one for the M54.

My apologies for my confusion, I thought this was for your 3.0si, but looking again at the photo it must be your lad's car and hence IS an M54. :headbang:
