Hey all, just replaced the battery in my 2006 3.0si and the fob is no longer locking the car. Unlock works after manually locking, pressing the lock button seems to trigger something as the interior lights will come on if the car has been sitting a while.
Things already checked/done:
1. 2 different key pairing methods - turn to position one, 5 times, hold unlock button and press lock 3x; turn to pos 2 and then quickly shut off and the same procedure. Did get the car to lock and confirm one time.
2. With windows down and manually locking:
A. Storage between seats is locked
B. Glovebox is NOT locked ( iirc my old 2006 used to lock, is this the issue?)
C. Gas compartment is locked
Fob works to unlock the car with no issues & this only happened after the car battery died and was replaced .
Any ideas?
P.s. - I saw a post on here regarding key fob battery strength possibly causing something similar. Took the car out for about a 2 hour drive before trying to reprogram / pair , the key should have had some decent time to charge.

Key fob only unlocking car
Just had a fob battery replaced. They sent back this method in case I needed it. Turns out I didn't but try it for yours:
1. Sit in vehicle with all doors, bonnet and boot closed.
2. Turn ignition to Position 2 then back to off, remove key from ignition.
(Position 2 is all dashboard lights on but engine not started)
3. Press and hold the Unlock button on the key, make sure you keep the button held down. Now press the Lock button 3 times. Repeat Step 3 for every remote available.
Any remotes not present will no longer be programmed.
Turn ignition On, then off.
Test remotes.

Thanks! I did try that already, it caused the locks to cycle, lock button still didn’t work. In hindsight, I shouldn’t have done that because my 2nd key was not present and is now likely not paired with the car
It may be a low voltage on the diamond key fob after all?.

Unfortunately I didn’t check as the spare wasn’t with me. I’m guessing after doing the procedure above it likely won’t…
The car is kept in a private garage so I won’t be able to check until next weekend, and I’ll bring both keys.
I may get a head start and call a few dealers to price out replacement keys during the week.

What were the symptoms before you changed the battery?
Are you sure its not the GM5 playing up?

No symptoms, have never had an issue with the key fob or central locking.
Car was barely driven, wasn’t on a battery tender and it died. Battery was also 9 years old.
