Any knowledge of Nissan 370z

There's a very nice one up for sale near me.. 328bhp in a n/a V6 sounds quite interesting

Anyone have any experience of these cars?

Ive had a 350z previously and loved it. Also considering a 370z as a next car.
Definitely a sports gt car though... quite a heavy car, heavy clutch and steering.
With a nice exhaust they sound awesome, good high revving engine too. No real reliability problems im aware of. Does only run on super though, mpg isnt brilliant and expensive roadtax if that bothers you.

I have a friend who owns one. The engine sounds absolutely delightful, the highlight of the car. It pulls reasonably hard but the real letdown for me is the quality of the interior. Cheap hard touch plastics and switchgear. If you can look beyond that (which I can't), you'll love it. The seats are comfortable and the clutch is lighter than the 350z.

Not a fan personally, although never driven one. The engine sounds godawful, like someone farting into a trombone, and the gear ratios sound far too spaced apart, judging from the videos of them leaving car shows enthusiastically I've seen - always seems to be an awful lot of clutch rub between 1st and 2nd. Supposedly good value for money though, but it's not something I'd be interested in

I had a 370z GT edition

Was a few years ago and it was relatively new being 2013
330 bhp manual and LSD what’s not to like ?

Handle well, and are excellently specced from standard .

Bad points … cabin noise is high as you sit close to rear wheels , mpg is not good and high road tax

Can’t say I have noticed any poor gear ratios or clutch “rub” …

But then again I have driven and owned one

As it happened I owned it for a year, did 8k in it and it didn’t cost a Penny, I even got back what I paid for it

Find that hard to believe with the tax and mpg

unless they are wealthy boy racers that mater and pater help out with the bills

Maybe they are 350Zs registered prior to 23 March 2006 that only have to pay Band K Road Tax?

I used to have a 350z and was admin on the forum for a while.

They are what they are, not what they aren't. I know it sounds stupid to say that, but so many people point at their deficiencies despite the fact they were designed for a particular reason.

As someone said above, they were primarily designed with the longer distance GT driver in mind. They are as a series quite frugal on fuel for a large engined V6 on good runs (when I did the NC500 my mate in his 350z drove from south east london to edinburgh on one tank), they are slightly heavy if comparing to say an E86 but to be honest 1.5 tonnes is the norm for many cars. What they are not are B road attack cars (in their standard form).

Some Pro's - relatively cheap to get parts (say compared to an M or AMG), parts are plentiful and there is a huge aftermarket offering (way outstrips what aftermarket there is available to the Z4 for instance). Its a cheap way to get into a large CC V6 and has a really strong enthusiast following, they have won club stand of the year at Japfest two years running now with 50-70 cars on it each time.

As some have said above, interior and general quality overall lets it down, its cheap and plasticky inside so you have to live with that. Also the chassis and engine design is pretty old now and showing its age, you are looking at 10-15 years in age, the chassis especially isnt that great. Also there is a significant weakness with the oil gallery gaskets, make sure they have been done otherwise its a £1000+ bill parts and labour and these are a case of when, not if, they go.

I would advise you pop over to 350z-uk.com and sign up, lots of guides on there and some super knowledgable owners, some are overly enthusiastic and will tell you that the cars are the best things ever but many are more grounded and have great overall car knowledge who can help.
