More roof cleaning
Forgot to post these pic’s of another roof brought back to life,
This car had lived outside for some years, and clearly hadn’t had a roof cleaning routine
For this roof I cleaned first with a Milton sterilising tablets solution, to kill off any algae spores. Then went to work with the Johnson’s baby Bath (the blue bottle) - for most roofs this combination has been enough, but not this one!
I broke out the Bilt Hamber Surfex Hd, and finally a second gentle wash with Baby Bath and plenty of water to remove any Surfex.

I didn’t use a bucket, I made it up in a pressurising spray bottle (the type where you pump a handle on the top)Acestumacher wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 10:04 pm Sorry to drag up an old post but great job on the roof cleaning!, out of interest how many milton tablets did you use per bucket pf water?
I can’t remember the number of litres one tablet does now, but it does gives directions on the packet. There’s not really any point making it extra-strong, just use Milton’s own guide Cheap as chips too!

Just reading through this…with the baby bath, is this applied neat and worked in with a brush before rinsing?True-Blue wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 6:14 pm Forgot to post these pic’s of another roof brought back to life,

That’s what I did, yes. But the roof is wet at this point, so a little goes quite a long way and generates lots of foam/sudsinkey$ wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 9:50 pmJust reading through this…with the baby bath, is this applied neat and worked in with a brush before rinsing?True-Blue wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 6:14 pm Forgot to post these pic’s of another roof brought back to life,

Ordered the tablets, bath wash and soft roof brush (all less that £13), and will give this a go as previous owner of mine had it outdoors, albeit under cover - but doesn't look like its ever been cleaned. Your results look amazing.

Use a hose to rinse, not a pressure washer. It is time consuming, but well worth the effort
Probably also worth adding that if you can give it a brush off while dry first, with a moderately firm brush to get a much dirt out as possible before you start.

I'm having a major job with my roof, have done the milton tablets, and resorted to using meguiar's roof cleaner but still moss/algee, will work on those areas with a toothbrush, reluctant to apply too much pressure when the roof is wet because it feels a little soft1
