M Dust / Valve caps

New pair of ear rings for my beauty - I've heard good and points about these dust / valve caps, but I think they add a bit of class :D

If you have them on the brass stems they will not come off after some time. You will either need to add something like copper grease to the threads, or get aluminium stems.

They do look good though!

Yup! Bit of copper grease or vaseline to keep them from binding!

I used to turn mine every week when washing (in addition to the copper grease).

Having seen that another member had to have the valves cut of because of seizing, I was always very careful with them.

And why not? My MC came with a set of M dust caps and I've kept them., but thankfully they seem to be stainless steel so are not corroding solid.

I do check them every few weeks just in case after the nightmare I had getting some aluminium ones undone on a previous car. :headbang:

If OE, they're plastic so won't be seizing or binding to the valve stems.

Thanks for the advice all, looks like I need to invest in some copper grease :) these dust caps are sadly made of aluminium :|

Might need to do the same to the wife's car, had similar issues with her dust caps getting stuck.

BMW sell these (alloy) caps not plastic so they do need maintenance if applied to a different metal. If you do not check your pressure at least every two weeks then you will run the risks of chemical weld.

Easy solution. Maintenance on a regular basis 😎👍

I still have the last set that were on my Fiat Coupe before it died. Wish I had kept the fuel filler cap too. That was a mini work of art.

Second the alu-items on the Fiat Coupe, and the key too! That car was a (very functional) piece of art. (Shame Marchionne was the wrong guy for the brand & never replaced it.)
The metal stems look nice but on my M Coupe they get ridiculously hot during track time which makes adjusting pressure a pain.. And the tend to hit & mark the rim laquer.
