Consumer Survey Air Fryers

Thanks guys, the comments reflect what I have already read, mixed reviews whether they are useful or not.

I have dual ovens and the wife thinks an air fryer would save having to use the larger one quite as much. Personally I think the energy savings even with the forthcoming rises would take a couple of years to make up what the air fryer would cost.

I suspect there will only be one winner so thought I would at least get a decent one.

btw, it's not just about the savings in money, they are so much quicker to use for certain things... no pre-heating and cook most things in half the time.

We have a Ninja Tendercrisp which can do the work of several other gadgets in one device. It will pressure cook, steam, slow cook, make yoghurt. It air crisps, grills, bakes/roasts and dehydrates. So we have got rid of a number of gadgets we no longer need thus freeing up space in the kitchen. We use it on a regular basis and find it very effective and easy to clean. The one drawback is that it is quite bulky and heavy to move about.

I have an oil fired aga and, due to the recent heat (and price of oil), it's been switched off for weeks and I've been mainly using a Tower air fryer. For the money I really can't knock it.

I must live a very sheltered life, I’ve never heard of an air fryer.

I’m off to consult Google now……

I bought a Phillips a few years ago but ended up giving it away as although it was simple to use and clean I didn't like the taste of the end product as they tasted a bit like oven chips which I'm not fond of

I converted a deep fat fryer to one. I tipped most of the oil out.
Set fire to the house so didn't work very well. :)

I’m getting intrigued.

Mainly because I love gadgets, and the sort of stuff I could do in one sounds great, at less cost and time. However time isn’t really an issue and I love hanging around the kitchen waiting with a glass or two of wine.

We have both a Ninja & a Philips one but only use the Ninja now as there is no way of cleaning the filter on the Philips one whereas the Ninja filter is removable and dishwasher safe.
