I bought a 2004 2.5l a few days ago. Runs smooth, no codes, etc. On startup, it blows A LOT of white smoke. Once warmed up, no issues. What would cause this and should I be worried?

Condensate burning off perhaps. Give it a long/spirited run and see if it occurs on the following start/run after a full cooldown period.

That is plan for today. I didn't put in original post that it is very warm here. Seller says it was sitting and put maybe 500 miles on in last year

Yes, fresh fuel. :) . Went out for about half hour, still smoke when accelerating (white from what I can tell). Seller says most likely ccv from sitting. Does this make sense?

What does it smell like? Burning oil will smell different that condensation burn off. It could be a number of things: blown head gasket, bad oil ring, crankcase ventilation valve, etc. How does your coolant look? Hopefully not milky.

I'll check coolant tomorrow in car. Does not really smell like anything.

Welcome to the forum, if it doesn’t smell then it’s probably condensation, and we’d love to see a photo of your car.

Probably not the best idea considering it was only recently purchased.
Not knowing the maintenance history or state of the existing oil, coolant and timing chains/guides could be catastrophic by taking the engine to the rev limiter for any period.
It's way more contingent to to take the plugs out and use a camera/borescope to inspect for carbon deposits before assuming it would benefit from revving the arse out of it uneccessarily.
Doesn't really sound like a carbon build-up issue in any case.

Big cloud again at startup. I checked oil and coolant. Both look normal. Hhhmmmm. Guessing order the ccv parts and run it. Doesn't get hot, secondary fan kicks on, etc.

Lovely, red is definitely growing on me. It’s hard to like the rear bumper/fender reflectors on American cars though.
