Anyone fancy a seat swap?

Post by Wassup » Fri Aug 19, 2022 12:18 am

Hi folks, I've been fortunate enough to get into another Z4MR as I've missed the top down experience since I parted out my carbon black Z4M Roadster a few months back.

I picked up a stunning 2008 Ruby Black earlier this week and it's just as I wanted options wise, with no navigation screen but dsp system, folding mirrors, heated seats, wind deflector, carbon leather dash, eventuri intake, 224s with brand new mps4 and decent service history along with the usual M options.

Just retrofitted cruise control yesterday and will be doing vanos rebuild over the weekend plus brand new OEM brake discs and pads over the coming weeks. Rod bearings is on the list but probably tackle that next summer along with full suspension refresh (dampers, springs, control arms, bushes etc) and nut and bolt restoration.

The only think on my mind is possibly changing the seats and door cards to Imola red to compliment the Ruby accent on the paint work. I can get hold of M sport seats in red but would rather have the Z4M embossed seats, anyone out there fancy a swap with black Z4M seats???

That looks lovely, congrats.

Can't help you with a seat swap. I think I would leave the side supports on the seat black, then go for red on the seat base and back. Match that with red door cards and that would be wonderful.

I agree it would look a even better with a lighter interior. :driving:
'07 Z4M Interlagos Blue. All options except extended leather.

I did see a Ruby Black with bicolour red/black leather but didn't real take to it though...to be fair it was in poor condition which didn't help.

Carbon Black followed by Ruby Black - definitely the best 2 blacks offered on Z4s.

Good luck finding some Imola Red seats - they do look great IMHO!
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

Thanks Mr Tidy, the Ruby red looked stunning in the sunshine earlier today but it's going to take some effort keeping it clean, first World problems I guess

True, but it's probably no worse than keeping Carbon Black clean!

Like Carbon, Ruby does look fantastic when the light hits it right though.

You mentioned "red", which reminded me that the colour shown on the V5 for my Ruby Black one was "Red". The previous owner said his OH got stopped twice about that! Just a heads-up.

That's good news.

Now all you need to do is find an Imola Red interior! I think it would definitely work better than the Dream Red that non-Ms had as that is a fair bit brighter. Amarone would work well but is also pretty rare! What about a complete contrast like Light Sepang or Champagne? My Ruby Black 3 litre had Pearl Grey which I thought was a good combination but it wasn't Nappa so I wouldn't put that in an M!
