Less is more, too much information and you lose sight of the original message.

Also, if you have done sixth sigma which I suspect you would have, you only want the pure data :poke:

There was a period when you could customise the met office site, to show the data you wanted. I for one winged all over them when they took that feature away. Having spent much of my working life collating and filtering data, so that clever people could understand it. I do understand why sites do it though. It's because it is perceived that most folks are too busy doing other stuff and want the summary. Personally wrt weather I'll take all the data I can get my paws on and filter it myself.

Bloody snowflake generation - they need to be told to drink water and stay in the shade because its hot and to not stand on the sea wall when there is a force 9 gale blowing.

Common sense has gone missing these days - drive me mad :headbang:

It's not about the information Gorge, it's about the way it is portrayed that fecks me off.
It's all scaremongering these days.
Life is scary enough without the weather being added to it.
Perry's maps above sum it up TBH.

It's either a subliminal message (and I'm not a conspiracy theorist BTW) regarding 'climate change', or the powers that be presume the British public are too thick to work stuff out for themselves. Could be both TBH.

Nowadays if it's a bit windy (I live in the Fens it's always feckin windy here) they have to give it a name. It really doesn't make any difference to anyone if the wind is called "Alesha", "Beatrice" or "Norman", it's still wind!

It's pis*ing down here ATM. Yesterday we were told we need the rain or the world will come to an end; today there is a weather warning because it's raining.
Make your feckin minds up! :x

See I like it, I want to be provided with the information, the system is simple, amber, orange and red, it gives you an indication of what to expect, how severe or likely and you can then work around it. For instance if there is an amber warning for snow, I wouldn't worry about the four hour drive to work, I can see where, when and how bad it will be. If it's a red warning for snow, I'd stay at home all cosy, bring some extra logs in for the fire and make sure I've got sufficient provisions. If it just said snow, one snow flake or two, what does that actually mean?

The crux is that I am informed and having information I can make my own decisions, I don't see it as the state nannying, state nannying is a 40 mph speed limits motorways before roadworks or a broken down vehicle or debris which is miles away :poke:

Can't do that anymore; far too dangerous. You may fall out and hurt yourself. At the very least quite a few may get their tongue stuck to the glass.

After the amount of rain we had here last night, if there is even mention of drought or hosepipe bans, I am going to punch someone from the Water Board.

Thames Water just has - even though a lot of flooding has taken place. Wrong type of water probably ...

Having more information is fine, as long as it's balanced and you then make up your own mind.
