Throttle Position Sensor - E85 2,0 2008.

Post by Karlos123 » Fri Aug 12, 2022 4:48 pm

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me where the Throttle Position Sensor is situated on an E85 2.0, 2008 model ?? I have looked them up on the web to see what they look like but can't find it on my car anywhere, I'm baffled, it's playing up and throwing a code so I need to replace it.

TIA :D

If I'm not mistaken, it's part of the throttle pedal assembly. It is on E46's.

Here's from RealOEM : https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=35_0274

Check to be sure this is the actual part for your car - I just searched by year/market/displacement

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I’m getting a throttle position sensor fault code coming up on my 2 litre also and was wondering if you have any info on how to go about resolving this?

I would have expected to find the sensor on the throttle body in the engine bay, not so sure its in the pedal module but the part number previously mentioned relating to the pedal module shows on Realoem as being fitted to Z4's Z4 E85   (06/2004 — 08/2008)

Search on Autodoc shows a picture of the sensor here

Sorry, I should have posted on here to say that the problem was easily resolved. I disconnected the TPS and reconnected it, cleared the code and it never came back, it was just a dodgy connection! hope yours is the same as a nice easy fix.

Is the TPS actually on the throttle body?
Or is is part of the throttle pedal?
Alan-G, I am breaking a 2.0 right now. Don't usually bother with much off the engine tbh, but if you need any parts to see if they fix yours, let me know.

As per someone's advice, I checked every connection/sensor on/near the throttle body, disconnected and reconnected and the problem went away after I cleared the code.

I was told (by BMW) that the TPS is an integral part inside the throttle body, and when it goes you have to replace the whole throttle body, luckily my issue was a dodgy connection on the throttle body, hope yours is the same.

Thank you
Alan-G, I have a throttle body, and can also get the throttle pedal off if needed. Let me know please.

Hi, as I hadn't heard for so long I have sold the throttle body and the pedal never came out of the car before the scrappy took it. Sorry.

Alan-G, did you ever resolve this problem?
I ask as I will have the Silver Grey 4-pot coming apart at the end of June.
