2004 Z4 split alloy rims badly corroded

Post by Merlot-Z4 » Thu Aug 04, 2022 3:53 pm

Hi Forumers,
I have a 2004 3.0i Z4 which has been fine other than the embarrassing state of the split rim alloys.
I even paid to have them refurbished 3 or 4 years ago, however I wouldn't recommend that particular cowboy outfit to anyone !!
Complete waste of money.
Can anyone advise a permanent solution rather than a cheap "sell the car within 6 months " paint job, either good replacements or quality refurbishment.
I am based in Warwick, UK.

Thanks in anticipation.

Different wheels was my permanent solution. 108s look lovely when new or freshly refurbished but they never seem to last more than a few years before corrosion occurs around the bolts.

indeed. plenty of nice wheels that dont corrode and look crap after a few years... MV1s, MV2s, 107s are varying in price, but all go straight on to a 2004 Z4. MV3s looks really nice and fill the arches a bit better too.

if you're dead set on keeping the 108s, i've actually seen people have good results simply power coating the entire wheel without splitting them first... or if you can avoid kerbing them, just rattle can them gloss black.

My permanent solution was also to sell them while they were still in decent condition after I bought a set of 295s from a forum member!
