After nearly 4 years of ownership, i discovered this button.

(Does anyone disable their passenger side airbag ?)

I think you'd only disable it with certain child seats in place.

Manual does not give a reason for it. Is there not a key switch in the side of
the dashboard for that ?

I don't know about the E89s.

I know on my 1 Series and E86s you used the key switch on the side of the dash and the light on the console illuminates.

Have you got a key switch?

Is it not just a light, and not a button.

It flashes for a second when ignition turned on. Airbag armed.
Press the button light stays on and air bag disabled.

I have a child seat in my passenger seat most of the time. I turn the key at the side of the dash and that light illuminates when I start the car. Is it a button too? I haven’t pressed it.

Yeah, in light cluster in front of rear view mirror. I only discovered yesterday.
Still don't understand why, when the usual key switch is in the dash also ???? :?

I guess if you want it permanently disabled you turn the key in the pillar.
But if you are quickly swapping between adults and a baby seat then it's a real faff to dismantle the key, insert the metal bit in the door pillar etc. Much easier to push the button, which I assume resets each time you turn the ignition off?

Always happy to help if I can.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

How wierd, went to test to see if resets on restart and now the button not lighting up !!?? :?
Probably why i never noticed it before.
Must have been a fluke yesterday. Although i turned on and off the ignition a few times and light flashed each time.
Strange.
