Thanks
Awaiting a quote from Chris Knott. They said as soon as I get my renewal quote to give them a ring. Doubt they will be able to match it but will will see.
Will shop around though

I use compare the market and ended up with Sterling Insurance…N4LLY wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 8:01 pm Apoligies Nanu,
Used gocompare for 1st time last year and got the free £ 250.-- excess.
It threw up Aeges Which was way cheapr than Direct Line who had been creeping up year on year.
Expected to have to do same and Gocompare, but nope Aeges renewed £ 57.-- cheaper than last year.
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

That's a shame - maybe Saga don't like Z4s.
I renewed my 330i with them in April for just under £220! Although last time I tried them for my Z4 they weren't very interested - possibly because it has a few modifications.

@Nanu. I'm still with LV and still a happy customer. My E89 20i MSport (remapped) is just up for renewal this week and premium dropped to £160. Can't really be @rsed shopping around at that price - comparison site offers £155 best quote but that's before we have a remap conversation. I have a declared mileage of 9K/year though it tends to be somewhat lower in reality. What's not to like?

Mine is insured with BMW, no one else could compete when I bought the car new, this year it went up £1.23 a month, that’s the only thing I don’t like, I can’t pay premium in full, only option monthly DD but even then total DD payments still cheaper than one off payment through GoCompare etc

There seems to be no sense to the car insurance market. I switched to Saga for the Coupe last year following a MoneySupermarket comparison for about £190 and the renewal last month was only £135 with an ambitious 6k miles per year and NCD protection. The 2.5i is slightly more at £180ish , presumably because it’s a convertible and I can’t use my NCD on it.
I have my wife as a named driver on all our policies (including the kids’ car) as this seems to consistently result in a lower premium.

I just insured the Project Cheapskate 3.0i for 3000 miles, fully comp, me and the missus, through Compare the Market via TopCashBack.
Got it for £146 from Saga, with £40 cash-back.
Of course, it's not the most valuable of motors.

Decided to go for the remap?
I took the car on its first 30 mile round trip to the office yesterday. It’s a completely different beast. Highly recommend it.

Actually, comparing prices is meaningless unless you live in the same postcode. Some insurers are more competitive than certain postcodes than others, so a company that's given someone else a great price for the exact same model may not be competitive for you, even if you are of a similar age.
