Greetings all,
Thought I'd drop by and say hello again since I've been inactive for many years. I've owned the E86 for 13 years but yesterday I finally traded it in for a gorgeous E89 in white. I've been waiting for the correct colour combo, trim and options, and one finally became available at an approved BMW dealership. So thought I would treat myself to a late birthday present
Quick question regarding bluetooth audio - I can connect my phone via bluetooth for calls but audio is not an option. I was hoping to play music from the Youtube Music app. Bluetooth (audio) isn't displaying under CD/Multimedia, and the only options available under CD/Multimedia > External Devices are USB and AUX front. Configuring my phone on the iDrive allows me to check/uncheck Telephone, but Audio isn't even an option. Is it because my phone is old or is there a step I’m missing?

Phone:
Xiaomi Mi 8 (2018)
Android 10
Just to add my controls in the centre console has a "Media" button. I read somewhere that if that button has "CD" then Bluetooth Audio isn't possible.

The button formerly known as CD then Media has no bearing on Bluetooth functionality..
There are at least two levels of Bluetooth..the basic version on E89 does voice..the extended version does music..
Also later Android phones sometimes struggle with the interface…checking with an iPhone as a reference is useful…

Not entirely sure what I should be looking at so have added screenshots. Would you mind taking a gander please. Have added the Multimedia section along with everything else. Thanks!

There's basic Bluetooth for calls, then theres enhanced Bluetooth which allows you to stream audio. Just another way of BMW taking your hard earned cash!

Hi! Yeah thanks. I've just been digging a bit more and finally came across a video explaining the two different Bluetooth options like you mentioned. Seems there's a work around so will give that a try. At least my head scratching can stop now

If you find a work around, let us know here. Luckily I do have enhanced Bluetooth, but it might help others here.

I just came across this video:
Trying to locate my OBD adapter, which I haven't used in years so can't say if it's successful yet.
Edit: I missed the part where you need a combox.
