Bilstein B4 kit
Hi all,
Looking for B4's. Will look at buying new but figured I'd ask here first. Preferably looking for the whole kit but will consider just the shocks as well.
Not looking for anything other than the whole kit or shocks as it's the shocks I need the most.
Thanks!

Don't forget that once they're fitted we'll need B4 and after photos.

Apparently there is a shortage of some bilstein products in the suspension and shocks department so if you are in need I'd just order from whoever has stock in hand.
Raw materials issue I think at manufacturing

Or even better, why not go down the fully adjustable route and have the ride height and comfort set to your satisfaction?

Working on it. But as Sonny said there is definitely a a shortage. Eurocarparts wanted 180 per shock!
Auto doc was tbe next option but once they're in all be sure to post!

Me too, Sachs is the O.E. Shock.enuff_zed wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 1:35 pmAre you set on the B4s?
I always use Sachs OEM and have had no issues.
There’s a photo on here somewhere of the B4 next to the Sachs and the B4 has a longer piston, so likely to be under greater compression more of the time.

Not at all set on the B4's but they're cheaper than Sachs oddly from basically anywhere I've looked.enuff_zed wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 1:35 pmAre you set on the B4s?

Well sadly you missed the 39% yesterday, but I got Sachs from Autodoc for:
NSF - £87.83
OSF - £82.39
No idea why they're different?
Didn't need rears this time, but looking back I last bought them for £52.68 each

I've put B4's on my car - no idea on longevity yet but BWM OEM are Sachs and on my 100,000 mile old car the rear ones had been replaced at least once before so lets say 50k miles and they are shot (and not just a little bit shot - zero damping at either end). I personally don't think that's very good!

I'll be honest, I think 30-40k on any standard set of shocks is reasonable considering the life they lead.Rockhopper wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 10:22 am I've put B4's on my car - no idea on longevity yet but BWM OEM are Sachs and on my 100,000 mile old car the rear ones had been replaced at least once before so lets say 50k miles and they are shot (and not just a little bit shot - zero damping at either end). My ones were different prices too. 106 for right and 114 for left I believe. So same as yours with difference in price for near and offside.
Odd that.
Though I've just spoken with my mate that works at car parts store. He can do front B4's for 175 so I cancelled autodoc order.
He's just come back to me to say their system says my car had M suspension.
Any idea how this could be? It definitely has Sachs front (which I assume isn't M).
Was M suspension an optional extra for non M cars by any chance?

I have fitted standard Sachs shocks to a 3.0 with sport suspension and kept the original springs. It works fine as the shock will accept a small drop without issue.
However, someone posted a photo of B4s and they are longer than Sachs so would need to compress further. Not sure if this would work so well? I have no experience of them to advise you.
