BMW warranty claim 1

Post by Johnbmwz4 » Fri Jul 22, 2022 6:15 pm

So I’ve had my car for around 2 month now and a few weeks after I got it I got an orange engine management light on dash. Fault codes were P2098 and P2198( I think) some sort of cat sensor. So turned it off then kept coming back on , on the 3rd journey in the car. After a bit of research on here a lot of you were saying it’s a fuel problem. I used the tank of fuel up then refueled up at another fuel station. The engine light didn’t come back on for many journeys so I thought I’d sorted the problem out but it came back on. Anyway thought best put this warranty to the test. Booked the car in at Sandal BMW in Wakefield and 2 days later all fixed. They replaced 2 oxygen sensors and the cost was just my excess which is £100. Happy days and very happy I decided to buy the warranty. When I first called the dealership they said they need to do a diagnostic check which would cost £120 before they can do anything until I told them I had the warranty in place so I think the overall cost of the work would have been in the hundreds if I had to pay for the works.. Anyway back to some top down driving while it’s still summer.😎

I always have the top down at every opportunity, but I must admit it was a little uncomfortable at times on Tuesday in 40 degree's of heat.
Johnbmwz4, glad you got it sorted under the warranty

Yes the air was just as warm driving as being stationary
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.
