Sorry but I want a stubby!

Post by MikeyH » Wed Jul 20, 2022 6:48 pm

Okay, so I have been a bit derisory about stubby aerials in the past but now I have seen them on a z4 I want one. I don't listen to the radio so reception doesn't matter, I just want it for the look of it. Can any one tell me the best place to get a cheap one. Wish I wasn't so jokey about Ed's now. :headbang:
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

Michael.
Sit down, take a few deep breaths, wait until the sun-stroke has worn off then you should be OK.

Then no more mention of those silly tings; OK? OK.

Edit; must be the sun as it's in the wrong section anyway   :poke:
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

Go to BMW. They are about £25 and we have used one for the past 8 years without any of the terrible radio reception you read about.

Sleepwalking with an erection is the quickest way to get a stubby..........
Abstinence is fine, in moderation.

I put a stubby on my E46 convertible and even though it was a BMW one it didn't give great reception. Loved the look of it, but on the odd occasion you want/need the radio it annoyed the hell out of me. Just saying!

But I do like the look of them on Z4s...............

On E89s I think stubbies only follow splitters.. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: but..given the multiple other aerials and the diversity module it’s from a reception view point fairly immaterial…

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

I imported one of these from the US:
https://www.cravenspeed.com/stubby-jr-a ... -z4-coupe/

No issues at all in my experience with radio reception. Why is it such an emotive issue though? It's cheap enough to have both a stubby & a whippy & takes barely a minute to switch.
