Z4M lambda sensor bosch replacement part number?

Post by Jack London » Mon Jul 11, 2022 12:29 pm

Hey all

I got a P0056, HO2S Heater control circuit bank 2 sensor 2 error.

What I gather is that its the sensor over the cat and there are two sizes.
I just wanted to know if anyone knows the bosch equivalent part number or if theres a working catalogue where I can compare them?
From what I understand the sensor in question is OEM: 11781406622 BOSCH/L=935MM
AutoDoc lists the: BOSCH 0 258 005 139. As the suitable replacement.

Does anyone know exactly which is which? The BMW price is a bit over the top. Had the car only a couple of weeks so it sucks to already
be having to pay out hundreds but that's how it goes.

Also I gather than the exhaust needs to be dropped in order to replace it? Any advice or guides on the matter are appreciated, if it's too difficult to do on ramps then i'll probably have a garage do it.

Thanks all.

Are you asking for a UK car or a US car, as that part number doesn't look correct for a UK system. UK-sourced Bosch ones should be less than £100 each vs the £300-400 dealers will charge for the same thing.

Hey mmm, UK car. I got those numbers from RealOEM which is where the facebook group pointed me. I didn't see an options between US and EUR models. So that's my bad.
I'm guessing then that's BOSCH 0258005343. Which seems to be out of stock everywhere :D

Yes I had the last one in the UK last year

I have one second hand one which maybe ok as I only got one and the plugs are a different fitting on each and around 50mm cable length.

I am going to try fitting a new Bosch one joined to the old cable and see if it works

Bosch technical say that all post cat sensors are the same just the plug and cable

I just wanted to check. Was that the same part number as the one you ordered? I'm going to keep on the hunt for one but want to make sure it is the correct part. Thanks :)

Collected a Bosch universal O2 sensor today but the sensor end looks different so it is going back the cable length is long enough but unless Bosch tech help can confirm it is suitable it is going back
I have the last UK sold sensor fitted to my car so have a good one to Compare the live data once fitted to make sure it is not giving faults readings back to the engine ECU

If you look at my post a few weeks ago (help oxygen sensor replacement) there is advice on replacing bank 2 sensor 2 but I haven't been able to source a replacement as all out of stock. When I code out the fault the ignition light stays out for a while so not an urgent job although mot due next week.
I was going to post a how to replace if my theory of taking off a piece of the wheel arch shield works to gain access but if you get there before me would you mind confirming

It looks like they were discontinued by Bosch and replaced with a "universal" sensor.

Z4M lambda sensor bosch replacement part number?

This is getting silly. Bank 2 after cat sensor on my car keeps throwing a light which I code out for a few days before it comes on again. My car is the old e85 2.5i with bosche sensor number 0258005310 which is different from yours but is out of stock everywhere and I have my mot on Tuesday.
If light comes on during test I am stuffed which is unfair but I guess that's the way it goes these days

Code the fault as you are doing and have a re test you have to get lucky or find a tester that is not too bothered (I know a couple)

Luckily engine light stayed off at mot so it's a pass all bar an advisory on anti roll bar drop links which are an easy job. Examiner said don't mess around with those universal lambda sensors where you join the cables as it isn't always successful. His assistance tried their suppliers whilst mot in progress but couldn't source one. Might have to be BMW but when I did a quick check they are around £270 as against Bosch £70 which is probably original equipment anyway

No Bosch ones in the Uk

So back to BMW or carefully join a universal one to the old OEM plug
