Has the auto box oil been changed? How many miles has the box done?
'Clunks' on slowing down are sometimes front suspension unloading /loading on a bush..
Can you 'feel' where the 'clunk' is coming from?

Hi Pete
Car has done 91k, it has a full BMW Service history, but not sure if the oil in the auto box has been changed, dampers, and all the top mounts, washers, spring platforms have been changed, along with the anti roll bars and bushes.
The shift into gear with the auto box is rather clunky, but put this down to it being mechanical shift?
I was thinking along the lines possibly of prop shaft?

Could be prop shaft..I’ve personally not heard of that as a cause / issue..Nick7602 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 5:22 pm Hi Pete

At 91k a nice ZF oil / filter pack would definitely be a good idea if the car is a keeper..

Hi Pete
Ok that sounds like the next step I think, I was going along thinking that the ZF autobox was filled for life, I didnt realise it can be serviced, so yes will definitely get that done
Cheers Pete

50k miles is what ZF recommends for their box…I’m sure BMW has a greater insight into ZF boxes than ZF
For sure it won’t hurt…
