Run flat tyres

So I have nail in my rear tyre, the tread is getting low so I thought I’d price up a new one. When I bought the car the BMW Dealer told me they were run flats, but I can’t see the SP symbol used by Michelin SP for run flat. The car is fitted with 275 and 255 35 ZR19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres. The car is 2019 and done 12,500 so I’m pretty sure is running on its first set of rubber. Can a couple of the members whose cars have Michelin’s take a look at their tyres and tell me if and where the run flat symbol is on their tyres?

G29 Z4 are not runflats ever! Having had multiple Z4 across the years, I will put money on your car NOT having runflats. Dealer is talking out of his hat.

G29’s definitely not runflats. Your current rubber is original fitment

More impressed you’ve got 12.5k out them :driving:

G29 does not come with run flat tyre. They all come with mobility kit which contains an electric pump and tyre gunk. The kit sit behind the right flap in the boot where you will find your locking wheel nut.

That’s what I thought when I bought the car and asked the sales guy, about not having the mobility kit, but he said they were run flats - not impressed

I assumed, wrongly as it appears, that mine was fitted with RF's. Will have to go look for the mobility kit now as I can't recall seeing it

If your car has 17” alloys it will have run flats, if they are 18” or 19” then they are conventional tyres and you should have the tyre repair gunk. It should be located under a removable panel, right hand side of the boot

Michelin Pilot super sports are very, very good tyres IMHO and I don't think they do them in run flats. I would actually rate them higher than the (holy grail) MP4s.

Eureka, found the repair kit. You learn something every day but hope I will never have to read the instructions on how to use it

If my MC is anything to go by the mobility kit is pretty well hidden (and no can of gloop when I got mine) but as you say hopefully you'll never need it.

And last resort is AA/RAC, etc. membership!

I have both on my 18" wheels. The summer tyres that came with the car are conventional but my winter tyres are run flats as I couldn't get any decent conventional winter tyres last year

Nanu, I would advise having a read of the instructions and/or watching a youtube vid. Familiarise yourself with it now, rather than a wet windy night in darkness by the side of the road.

Yes, I know you will probably use a recovery service instead, but as long as he damage isn't too bad 5 minutes will see you on your way again rather than at the mercies of your breakdown recoverers timescale.

Did you go standard set-up 225/45 R18 and 255/40 R18? In reality England does not warrant a full winter tyre per se, but an all season tyre with M+S markings used in winter is a great compromise.
