Petrol flap hinge wobbly

Post by enuff_zed » Mon Jul 04, 2022 2:48 pm

Hi all,
Hoping that maybe one of you who has broken an E85 will have the answer for me?
The 3.0i I just picked up has a wobbly petrol flap, such that you have to align it to lock the car or the pin doesn't engage.
It appears that the hinge is not connected to anything at the bottom.
Is it possible to access this to fit a new flap/hinge assembly, or does the wing have to come off?
I've had a look but it's not very clear to me how it all goes together.

Petrol flap hinge wobbly

The 2003 model had a petrol flap that would just fall off by itself, (fixed in the 2004 model) many had new ones fitted by the dealer and it did not involve a disassembly of the wing as it was minutes work.

I never had the issue so cannot comment on how to replace or adjust it, but all I know is that it is not with the wing taken off.
Current:
911-50 Black - unique spec
X5M - 575 hp of fun in a V8
Abarth 595 Comp.
Golf Clipper - collectors item
Z4 3.0si Black Sapphire
VW ID.3

Previous:
Z4M Silver Grey - non flimper spec (gone to Bing)
Z4 3.0 Toledo

Well that's an encouraging start. Thanks.
