Stop start annoying

Is it possible to disable this function.

I know it’s an environmental thing and meant to save fuel but I find it annoying.

Can it be disabled permanently?

We haver stop start on our Puma, its superb and totally seamless. I can even do hill starts with it. It must be the way Ford have programmed it, i guess BMW being older technology didn't do such a good job.

The only time I turn it of is in the summer if you are in queuing traffic and want to keep the AC running for any length of time.

Is the button like on my M right next to the start button? I press both at the same time when starting the car to avoid it kicking in as with a V8, the last thing I want is it to stop and start all the time

Various directives make it illegal to allow the stop start to be permanently disabled..

For various manfucturers 'dongles' have been created to bypass this restriction.

It's alledged that on some cars, if you start the car with the bonnet up..then close the bonnet whilst the engine is running then this for various reasons bypasses the function.

Most people seem to just get into a procedure on starting to disable it.

Various cars when in sports or sports+ mode disable the feature for the period that the car is in those modes..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

I hate it!
It’s not on my 35is but it is on my 335 so I tend to forget to switch it off, It might save a few litres of fuel over the years but at the cost of a new starter motor system at vast cost.
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Bimmercode will let you permanently disable it, or the option I've chosen, set it to remember the last setting which in my case is off of course.

Nanu, if you can't find anyone closer, I'll meet you half way and code it.

Wasn’t aware of that setting in the programming, will have a look and set that as well. Like the last remembering position

Yes, gives you the option of turning back on, God knows why you'd want to though.

There is a button on the central console next to the start that looks like an a with a circle around it.
Pressing that after start seems to take it off but not sure if it does anything else

It does, but does not stick as such so the next time you start the car it is back on

Or you could buy a Jeep and it just never works anyway, from day 1. They even have a sign on the service desk that there are 1000000000 reasons on why it doesn’t work but that it isn’t a fault. I had it put in for warranty several times and it was always that the battery was slightly low. Yes, right - even when it take over an hour to just get to the nearest dealer :D

For the present will just have to get used to remembering to use that button each time I turn the engine on. It’s right next to the start button so not to much energy used even by my standards.

Don’t know how far away Scubaregs is from Gods country but perhaps at some point in the future if passing nearby, will take him up on his kind offer. May even stand him a pint or two. Please note the word May! :D
