X Drive.

Post by ronk » Tue Jun 14, 2022 1:15 pm

I was in a BMW Dealership yesterday and the Guru/Genius spoke about a future X Drive Version of the Z4.

Has anyone heard any such rumours?

I think this is it..a 2 series described as 'z4 powered'..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
A very modified Atacama Yellow 35is

He was quite specific about it being an iteration of the Z
As much as I like X Drive on my 335, I’m not convinced (as yet) how the system would feel in a Z4

Really don't buy it Ron..powertrain development is a big bucks affair for all manufacturers..for an ultra niche product that they could only just about justify by doubling up with Toyota its going to have to borrow from another platform..they are not going to make a x drive platform specifically for Z4s..

FWIW I loved all my Audi Quattros..

Just can't see a BMW roadster DNA including AWD..

I only had one Quattro but agree with your sentiments!
The X Drive feels more lively and if they ever were to put it onto a Z4 it might just work - not convinced that it will ever happen,

If it does, remember you heard it here first.

Time will tell 👍🏻
