Any issues with top mount brands on the E89? I know the ‘go-to’ is Lemforder for the rear on the E85 is this the same for E89?

Many thanks.

Lemforder are always the go-to brand. Are your top mounts shot?

I have no idea tbh. But all I can offer is that when I took the rear suspension apart on 'Project Freeleeta' it was the originals, as the insulation round the mounts was pristine, never been moved. I held an original top mount and the Lemforder replacement side by side and the only difference was that where the original had BMW in raised letters on the rubber, the Lemforder had an obvious scraped away patch.
Whether Lemforder were still the preferred supplier for the E89 I cannot say, but I'd be happy to use them.

No, but I’m putting in an order to auto.doc as I have a few things planned for my E89 - As I’m replacing the suspension I want to replace the top mounts. Lemforder not currently available on the auto.doc website but Meyle is.

I know Meyle are fine for most things, but believe the rear top mounts are bad on the E85.

The issue is that they don't have the raised rubber bumps on the underside of their top mounts. This means the metal sleeve in the middle of the rubber can impact directly on the cup washer below it, causing a very annoying knock. I fitted Meyle rears on an E85. Removed them less than 3000 miles later and the end of the metal sleeve was battered to f&&k!

Ok, that’s good to know.

When I’ve done the rears on E85’s I’ve always used Lemforder, I’ve ordered some Meyle for the front and rear of the E89 but I’ll have a good look at the design before deciding whether to use them then
