They already get 5% VAT on the electric. They would need to scrap vat on domestic energy before doing that.

Solar panels on the sunroof in the future would trickle charge enough over long journeys in sunny locations like Australia to get you there just. They have just invented a solar panel that works at night now too in America at MIT.
Tech is advancing so fast that buying an ev now it becomes outdated pretty fast. They are coming along so fast now what isn't possible today will be soon enough.
Same goes for why solar wasn't a viable option in the past and now why it could be an option as panels nowadays produce 33% more energy of older panels of 5 years ago. Which is a massive amount of improvement in a short period of time.
Therefore I can see in the future they will actually become a viable option for car charging especially in sunny locations as a trickle charge option just to top up the battery rather than a full charge from empty.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Also, takes 10 full sized solar panels to charge a medium sized electric vehicle… according to Google, might as well go the whole hog and have a sort of sail made of solar panels - you can harness the power of the wind!…. As long as it’s blowing in the direction you want to go

So we all go to EV's by 2030, chargers are everywhere and range is a distant worry. What do we use to produce the electricity?
