Project Ed's Zed is underway
Just driven home in a very tidy Sterling Grey 2.5i with an extremely happy new owner in the passenger seat!
Turned up at the seller's house to discover he used to be on 13 Sqn with me in the mid-90s. Maybe that was what helped the deal come down a fair bit?
Overall in very good condition, on 114k, with all new discs and brand new front dust shields. Been well looked after. Engine dry (on the outside), new expansion tank a couple of years back. Full 12 month MOT.
Had advisories fro the front shocks misting and the back road drive home shows they need renewing. Will do all four corners while we're at it.
Just left Ed with his dad, clambering over it like two happy kids. Suspect dad will be doing a few miles in it.
Good thing is it's fully roadworthy and they can get some fun from it, then pop over to sort stuff as time allows.
Issues noted so far:
1. Cracked LH fog light (spare provided with the car)
2. No engine undertray (so now I need to source 2!!)
3. Centre storage door will not open, even when pulling the string. Bit of a challenge there methinks.
4. Wind noise from the rear top corner of both windows. (adjustment of a bit of Gummi Pfledge on the rubber hopefully)
5. 108s look rattle-canned. (Undecided what to do with them yet)
6. Also has a set of Brem-doh! calliper covers which will will exit stage left asap!
I have no doubt we will be searching for parts over the next few months, so if any of you are feeling generous when we ask, a little 'Ed discount' would help the lad out.

That's normal for Norfolk!
Glad you got one sorted Martin.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Nice car and welcome to the forum Ed
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.

Great to hear you managed to find a project for your young protégé, from his smile it looks like all his birthdays and Christmases have come at once.

His dad has just taken him on a tour to show all the grandparents. Luckily they're local.

Cheers. He is indeed a happy chappy.
I think the biggest hurdle to doing it up will be getting his dad to stop driving it

Autodoc app is on 38% discount today, so all the suspension stuff is now on order. Adding in the obligatory two knuckle bolts from the BMW eBay store, the whole lot (shocks, top mounts, bump stops, dust covers, ARB bushes, drop links and bolts) comes to £420. That'll do
Ed definitely wants to upgrade to heated seats. I think standard ones would be a better bet for him to realise a future profit.
On the lookout for a good set of black ones. Manual would do, but if electric memory ones will plug'n'play we could consider those too.
