Pressure washer.

Post by ronk » Fri May 20, 2022 11:32 pm

I’m going to replace my 30+ year old Kew Hobby pressure washer as it’s getting too heavy for me to lug about. A new machine won’t need to last 30 years at my age

Is a £100 budget Machine ok? It will only be used to wash the patio in springtime and snow foam the cars occasionally.

I do have some Kew attachments and would possibly like to use them but it’s not a show stopper.

Any opinions would help please.

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

I purchased a £60 titan pressure washer from Screwfix recently, i rarely use them & this got great reviews - I’ve not been disappointed and it’s made in the UK to boot.

Hi Ron

If going for cheaper end from my experience I would steer clear of Karcher, used mine once and next spring the pump failed, might be wrong but I think the cheaper end are made of plastic.

Replaced it with a Nilfisk which has an aluminium pump and been good so far. Lightweight and easy to move around.

For me it’s not about the make or the cost, although cheaper the better, it’s about the pressure. Too low and it’s useless to clean the patio.

Get the one best for you then do as my wife does, search for voucher or discount codes. It’s surprising with a bit of effort how much you can off prices. She has just bought a top of the range Shark vacuum cleaner for just over half price which was £100 cheaper than the basic model because that was the one with the discount code. Good hunting.

Look at the spec on the box of my lidl one. Very powerful and a 10m hose where most cheap ones have a 5m hose. Only problem is Lidl only sell these every now and again but if lucky they will have one. Got mine around 4 weeks ago

Plus 1 for Screwfix, the first one lasted over 7 years, this one is their £85 version, plenty of poke.

I bought on eBay the converters, they seemed to have just about any combination for any make. I changed mine from Kärcher to a generic click system

I have a Karcher which I have had for five years and it has been fine. My mate has just bought a Titan from Screwfix. He paid just over £100 for the model he got and like others posting here he is delighted with it. I think I will be having a good look at these when mine packs in.

I have my dad’s 1975 Kärcher, still going well, my 1985 Kärcher also going well. I use those for the portable jobs and bought a Kranzle for the proper plumbed in one. But then that was about £700 for the unit alone but lovely quality
