loud noise when closing top
have a 2014 that I've had for a few weeks and when I close the top it makes a loud clunk when the front part closes on top of the windshield frame and also the back does the same by the boot. Is this normal, do I need an adjustment, new rubber or something else.
Much appreciated... Steve

Sounds normal to me..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

I think it’s more evident in the hot weather as the hydraulic fluid becomes less viscous, it should “fix” itself in the winterstevenfstein wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 9:59 pm have a 2014 that I've had for a few weeks and when I close the top it makes a loud clunk when the front part closes on top of the windshield frame and also the back does the same by the boot. A member posted a solution to the problem a while back: grease the holes. I tried it and it worked.

For the front where it meets the windshield you can put some lithium grease in the two holes in top of the windshield frame where the roof locks into and that will stop the loud clunking for that part, not sure if you can put grease for the rear part.

Agree with Silverstar...grease the front holes, that seems to quieten it down somewhat.. but the rear clam has always been clunky on mine i've tried all sorts and just accept it now!

grease coming today, will let you know later if it made any difference. Also trying to find source of some rattles on the passenger side when the top is up. Everything seems tight and does not seem consistent. Probably depends on how bad the road is at that time. Suggestions on where to look?
EDIT - definitely made it a bit quieter and even my wife noticed the difference. Thanks to all for the suggestions.
