I've never seen a cleaner underside or wheel arch. I give up my car is never going to be as clean as that.

i really should remove the wax in the arches as crap sticks to it but..... its how it came out the factory so I just leave it alone. Appreciate the comments.
Today is the start of the PPF.... and a test of how good my scans are.... more pics later and the cameras are still rolling

right guys,
day 2 was a tough one... didn't land at work till 1pm due to external meetings, this left for a 5 hour window to get the bumper, mirrors, and A pillars cut, fitted up and final installation complete... I'm beat.. pleased to report my scanned bumper was near perfect( some minor alternations made on the car ) with nice tight butt joins. Everything is covered right down to the towing eye cover and even the washer jet covers. The lower fangs are separate pieces as is the lower center piece. the top section is one large piece then each side are one piece but i split them due to the number plate plinth. I can safely say, the z4m is not my favorite car to PPF But so far its a near perfect install.
The mirrors are a two piece design with the front and top butted nice and neatly up to each other.
The A pillar is a single piece the fitted perfectly.

Great work Beedub I must admit though I am still borderline on PPF . From my slightly ocd point of view I love the way it protects but also from that point of view I struggle with the edges of the PPF . I would like it done but at the same time it would do my head in

Looking good so far Byron but any reason why you are going for a ceramic coating over a nice carnauba wax?

I'm using the new Suntek reaction self healing PPF which had a secondary layer of ceramic coating added at the factory... I will going to throw some additional PPF ceramic over the top for some additonal gloss from the PPF . I love a good wax but I've been spoilt by today's ceramics and PPF .

As a professional installer I absolutely love to see the neat PPF lines. It's extremely satisfying to me . . Plus for the protection and gloss levels PPF is just unbeatable, it's a Shame it's such a costly process. I do understand it's not for everyone however.1536Z4 wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 8:20 pm Great work Beedub I must admit though I am still borderline on PPF . Hey Byron,
Just done the same to mine recently,as I'd mentioned to you just or if or to getting it done.
I'd it still August you're coming up to Scotland?
I was going to do a thread on mine, but didn't get round to it.
Yours just surpasses it anyway, lol,and I had to pay someone to Paint,Ppf and Ceramic coat mine.
Where yours is going to be all your own work.
Look forward to seeing it sometime soon.

Hi Craig ... I'd love to see some pics of your bumper PPF .... This is not an easy one to PPF so I'd love to compare someone else's finish to mine . Can you drop some pics of the tow hook area and around the BMW emblem / washer jets .craig3.2 wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 9:44 pmHey Byron,

Also, ppf specific ceramic coatings like Gtechniq Halo,Gyeon PPF ceramic, etc are "flexible" as opposed to standard ceramic coatngs and possibly alot of waxes, that are designed to harden up and basically wouldn't then let the Self healing ppf self heal, whereas self healing ppf specific ceramic coatings still allow the ppf to move, and therefore heal small chips and scratches.
I've already had a chip in my wing,a week or so after it was all done, and with some warm water,it self healed. Was great to see it disappear
Maybe that's the reason for not going for a carnauba wax or similar?
Byron would know ore, given he does it fir a living, but I'd think that's possibly why

Plus, they had to put it in a plotter,to expand the lines to allow tuck under,as you will know, the early kits edges used to stop short, wherein now they tuck under the edges of Wings, bonnets, etc.
Mine has only two relief cuts as a result,so happy with the work done.

Interested to know how much it has been costing for guys that have had front bumper respray & PPF, I've had a quote of around £700-£750 and wondering whether to go ahead or not
