Hi all,
My beloved Zed is a 2003 and my Alloys are well overdue a refurb.
So I've provisionally booked them in at my local alloy wheel refurbishers in the last week of May.

But a the burning question is; do I take this opportunity to change the colour of the wheels?
...not sure it will look against the Sterling Grey :?

Here's some examples of the 'standard' colours they offer. (Other colours are extra ££ of course)

I really like that Matte Black on the Ford wheel but as I say, not sure it'd look right ...and I do like how the silver wheels look against the dark grey.
Sure. It's all down to personal preference and I think I can predict how this poll will go but it's just a bit of fun.

If anyone can post any pictures for inspiration that'd be great 👍

The results of the poll are hidden and will be revealed on 25th May 2022 @ 11pm - the photos of the refurb and final choice of colour will be added on the 26th so stay tuned if you're interested.

OK, I'll bite.
Don't think black would work on that colour car.
Either standard or a light gunmetal shade maybe?
So I voted 'other'.

Always happy to help if I can.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

Trueblue had a set refurbished with a fantastic colour, a silver but with a fleck / sparkle to them. He might remember what they used....or search function.
Also seen these in shadow chrome and they were gorgeous.
Personally I would avoid anything too dark. You just 'lose' the wheels.
2.0 m sport (suspension / steering wheel/scuff plates) cupholders sapphire black with factory hard top. Needs a little tlc but loving it.

IMHO - hate black wheels just look like blobs!!!
Silver is good but I would go for a slighlty darker gunmetal personally.

I’m a bit old school and although I like dark grey on some cars wheels, personally on your wheels I would keep them stock colour
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

standard BMW wheels, keep them the standard BMW colour. Ellipsoids are the classic and best alloys for a Z4 IMO, has to be kept stock.

by all means have different colours wheels on a car, but if you want black, gunmetal or bronze then go for an aftermarket wheel option.

I'd probably keep them stock, but I can see the appeal of a slightly darker silver.

Or if you are feeling brave bronze might work on your car!

Ellipsoid Wheel Refurb Colour Options?

This is exactly the issue I have been grappling with...I have a sterling grey e85 with 107s....was thinking about satin black with black grills ...all ties in with the soft top roof ...but not sure the 107s look right black ...a spoked wheel looks better in dark colours??
Maybe the shadow grey might be the one ?
