Some stunning photos there.
Just wish I lived a bit nearer to scenery like that.
Enjoy the rest of the trip.

Day 3 Fort William to Ullapool via Spean Bridge, Invergarry, Strathcarron and Gairloch plus way too many lochs too mention.
Conditions were ‘moist’ and the roofs were only down later in the afternoon. One car suffered a ‘snake bite’ compression puncture courtesy of a very nasty pothole…a new tyre was procured from a depot about 25 miles from the incident near Kyle of Lochalsh..this resulted in most cars doing the famous Applecross whilst two others remained with and then help re-patriate the downed car.
Everybody rendezvoused at the coffee house in Gairloch and then home to a great B+B north of Ullapool with great views over the inlet.

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard..

Such a lovely country with glorious views.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

Day 4 on our trip..we were on the NC500 roads for the whole day…weather was remarkably benign with 3 showers of about 15 minute duration and dry roads for most of the time.
Arguably the prettiest part of the NC500 that being the western, north western and first part of the northern run. If Carlsberg did epic roads and scenery then this would be it.
A lot of the single track roads have been resurfaced to good effect…surprisingly low grockle / camper van count ..quietest I’ve seen it in the 4 years I’ve been on these roads..which was good..
Too many fabulous pictures so here’s just a snippet.
Route was Ullapool- Lochinver - Kylescu - Durness - Thurso - John o Groats

Epic, thanks for sharing so far. If all goes well I'll be doing the NC500 for the first time in September.

Day 5 of our road trip..John O Groats to Lossiemouth via Helmsdale, Altnaharra, Lairg, Dunrobin Castle, Ardgay
We tried to keep off the A9 which tends to deteriorate to a slow moving traffic jam.
A large loop into the hinterland bounded by the NC500 route and a nice detour to avoid the A9 further south made this into a 6 hour + driving day.
Lovely restaurant in Lairg on the Loch with excellent Cappuccinos made a great pit stop.
Nice hotel on the sea front in Lossiemouthands our day. Traffic remains pleasantly low with the exception of the A9.
Weather was top down with the odd 10-15 minute showers..

Final day of the Grand Tour…I will have done about 1,500 miles by the time I get home on Friday…7 days of pretty intensive driving for about 6 hours a day on average means I‘m ready for a break (for a couple of days)
Big thanks to the chaps who organised this trip and allowing me to join them on this odyssey.
Today’s final leg was from Lossiemouth to Dundee via Grantown on Spey and the great roads from Tomintoul to Braemar and then on via the Spittal of Glenshee to Dundee.
One big chip in the windscreen was the only real casualty..will be interesting to see how much was worn off the tyres.

Looks like a great trip. I remember following a local in a battered old Fiesta on the Altnaharra to Lairg leg a few years back. I could barely keep him in sight whilst driving the Roadster S. The locals certainly know how to drive those roads and they really are fantastic, especially when you get a clear run.
