SOLD Z4 E85 Z4 3.0i Auto - 91k miles - Sterling Grey with Red Leather

Well after an excellent nearly 5 years of ownership the time has come to sell my much loved E85.

She's a 2004 E85 Z4 3.0i Auto in Sterling Grey with New England Red Leather interior.
The New England has the stripe down the centre of the seat which I've found to be quite unusual given all the Z4's I've seen over the years.
Service history has been a bit patchy tbh but in my ownership she's had an oil & filter changes at each MOT along with the items listed below.
She starts on the button & drives so smoothly for an 18 year old car. Born in July 2003 according to the plate under the bonnet, first registered in April 2004. Currently on 91360 miles. May rise slightly.
During my ownership she's always been SORN'd for 5 months over winter. She's been very much a garage queen during & prior to my ownership. I took advantage of the 6 month grace on the MOT in 2020 so there's 23 months between 2019 & 2021 MOT'S but less than 1400 miles covered in that time.
Very tidy condition throughout, though there are some chips & scratches commensurate with age & mileage. There are a couple of very minor dents to the rear of the wheel arches on both front wings (not very noticeable & impossible to photograph). I was quoted £140 to get these sorted but never got round to it . There's a bit of roadrash on both side sill covers. Honestly she still looks great! £4500

DISA valve replaced with aluminium i6 Automotive kit 2014
Auto box fluid replaced at ~83k miles 2014
Rear diff oil replaced at ~83k miles 2014
GM5 ECU central locking relays replaced 2014
Machine Monkey exhaust tips fitted
2 under seat storage boxes fitted
Stubby aerial currently fitted, original whippy is included

Modifications & stuff I've done:
Roof motor moved to boot
GapTech roof module fitted
Cupholders fitted to both sides
Both side indicators replaced with clear ones fitted with Buckley Z4 aluminium badges
Both seats retrofitted with heating (works )
Multifunction steering wheel fitted & retrimmed by Royals with red stitching (lovely upgrade )
New boot lid struts fitted
All interior lamps converted to LED
Passenger side splash guard replaced (split when bought)
New horns fitted (passenger side was not working)
New engine undertray fitted (missing when bought)
CCV pipework renewed 2019
Both control arms & lollipops renewed with Moog in 2019
Both drive belts replaced 2019
Wheels & tyres replaced in 2019 with 18" MV3'S & new Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 3's. Fronts 225/40R18, Rears 245/40R18 (less than 2500 miles on these)
New BMW diamond key purchased 2019
New battery fitted 2021 (Bosch 77AH Type 096)
All blue & white badges replaced (front & rear genuine BMW, wheel badges are copies but in great condition, 4 brand new spares included)
Rear centre brake light replaced with a genuine BMW clear one (new red one available)
AUX In socket added to panel under A/C controls
BlueMusic adapter fitted to CD changer socket for mobile music streaming (works great )
Door speakers fitted to improve audio quality
Door internals fitted with sound proofing pads
Door internal handle covers renewed
Cam cover gaskets renewed 2021
Oil filter housing to cylinder head gasket renewed 2021
New Brembo brake discs, pads, sensors & spring clips renewed 2021 (brake callipers could do with a coat of paint)
Oil, oil filter, air filter (kit from Opie Oils) and cabin filter changed March 2022
New idler pulley and tensioner pulley fitted May 2022

Thanks Stuart, much appreciated. It's a shame but she's just not getting the use she should be as you can see from the mileage over the last few years. Hopefully she'll go to a good home.

Not to everyone's taste I agree. However they are sought after by some and can easily be changed back to standard and sold on.

Yes it does look a bit creased . She'd been sat in the garage for 2 months with the roof down before I took her out for a good run and then did the photos. I think the lighting makes it look much worse than it actually is.

I've been out for a blast in her today to make sure the pulley noise has been sorted, roof down of course . She's now sat in the garage with the roof up ready to go to a new home .

With shell v power at £1.77 a litre I think it's the running costs that will be scaring off people during this coming recession. Nobody has any money thanks to energy prices, inflation and incoming interest rate rises. People that do have money aren't looking at a cheap 2 seater convertible with potentially high maintenance costs and none of the fancy modern toys they like. They are looking at range rovers or Tesla's. The gap between the rich and poor widens every year. I just don't see the same market for these as years of past unfortunately with the green agenda also on the cards coupled with the price of petrol.

I could be wrong but I sell stuff on gumtree and eBay a lot and people just don't have any money at the bottom end of the market which is where this car is. Low ball offers and struggling to shift stuff at cheap prices.

Anyone looking to spend £4k on a car is looking for low running costs and reliability. A 20 year old car which does 25mpg isn't either. It's a very niche market which grows smaller every day thanks to energy prices. Remember it's not a very practical car either. The idea of a weekend car just isn't a thing for younger generation. They need one car which does everything.

My sister got a brand new BMW 125i I think it was as a courtesy car and she complained about the running costs that's circa 35mpg real world running costs. With same amount of power 218bhp. This is someone with half decent disposable income.

It's going to take time to find the right buyer I think. The market just isn't what it was. If petrol drops to below £1.40 for v power and gas and leccy drop substantially then the market widens.

Well, thanks for that . I hope you've put the same comments on everyone else's advert for these! Whilst some of what you say is true I'm sure your comments will really help mine sell, not!

What makes you think these cars are unreliable & only for the younger generation? There are plenty of oldies like me who love these cars & don't do that many miles so the fuel costs aren't that much of an issue, they are great value for money, have a good spec of kit, given their age & have many smiles per mile compared with modern cars. Yep, not that practical but it all depends on what you want doesn't it? Personally I wouldn't give a 70 grand+ Range Rover or the fugly Tesla models shed room!
