Weekends and work or holiday long trips might be 30% of car usage. I noticed when I use a tank driving mainly in city I can do 420-450 Km. The range extends to 530-550, 550 being the absolute max in motorway at 150kph avg.

BTW: any tips on radar detector
I thought those were illegal in Spain, I have a subscription to Coyote which works in Spain and most of Europe and works great on Apple CarPlay via my MMI box

Returning to fuel ...

1 I never drive slowly just to save petrol
2 I never drive fast just to waste it
3 I don't know the price of petrol*
4 I don't know the mileage to the first bong at 50 miles or the second at 30 (only that BMW were stupid to use the same warning for petrol and for major mechanical faults)
5 I enjoy my Z4 very much
6 The global figure on the dash is 26.4.

*What difference would it make if I did? I can't change it and shouting at the person behind the counter when it goes up would be stupid - he or she can't change it, either.

23i Fuel Consumption / Mileage

Getting back to this. I managed to recover my original ECU by a series of software reflashes and updates to the latest versions.
It feels like a different beast now. I forgot what i was missing.

It's possible the injectors weren't functioning properly/coded properly on the replacement ECU hence the lethargic feel and high fuel consumption.
I have a 60KM each way drive tomorrow so will have a better idea of the change in fuel consumption. Will report back.

Filled up the tank and its showing 460 miles to empty.
Happy days are here again just in time for the sunshine!!

Thanks for all the replies!

I wonder if there’s something amiss with my 23i which returns 30mpg or thereabouts on my 15 mile each way commute of mixed driving - a full tank shows a range of about 330 miles.
The car is also a bit ‘woolly’ on the throttle, except in Sport mode which sharpens things up nicely.

That’s not far off the mark for mixed driving over a shortish journey, don’t forget it’s still warming up for the first 5miles or so.

It might be worth trying the throttle adaption reset to sharpen up response - here's a link:- viewtopic.php?f=32&t=195&p=340346&hilit ... eset#p2221
