Small mods for z4m coupe
Just asking what is worth doing to make some minor improvements
So far I have:
New bottom end king race crank shells
Race ARP bolts
New engine mounts
CSL style large intake with de maf
Remap to cope with decaf and better response
New gear lever
Am staying with oem suspension as stiff enough already
Getting the steering wheel done by Jack at Royal
New windscreen and exterior rubber
Have heard following worth doing:
CDV removal
Power flex transmission mount
Anything else worth doing that is not silly money and good for a road car?
Many thanks nick

Those are all pretty big "small mods"
The z4m's have pretty much the same driveline and suspension as the e46m3 so you might find some ideas on this forum,

I have read more than a few times that if you are going to change the mounts on the engine and transmission that they should be made to the same hardness, new rubber engine mounts with poly trans mounts may lead to some cracking of the mounting points.

I never found the OE suspension 'stiff' as it would still roll a lot, but I did find it quite twitchy. It was too harsh for normal road use, yet not controllable enough for track days,
Aftermarket suspension (in my case Bilstein B16 PSS10) made the ride much more composed when pushing on, less twitchy, and also made the road manners much better.

Depends what you want to achieve with regards what kind of mods you want to do?
Wouldn't bother with Powerflex trans mounts mind, if you've ever felt the OE one's they are plenty stiff unless you're going all out race car? CDV won't do any harm.
A refresh of the connecting suspension components might be worth looking at if all original?

Z4MR - Gruppe M, Bilstein PSS10, CSL's + 18" CSL reps with semi's, RTAB Limiters, Powerflex’d, PF Camber Arms, K-Sport BBK / RSL-29, GC Camber Plates, Strut Brace, Exhaust valves, custom brake cooling, complete underside refresh!

Personally I wouldn't rule out suspension as a means to improve ride as well as handling... Plus the older OE stuff will no doubt be well past its prime...!
I'd also look at Powerflex/Polybush Lollipop bushes and RTAB bushes - I did this in my old 3.0si and it made a noticeable difference to how 'transparent' the car felt on the road.
I know you said 'not great expense' but I'd also consider a 4.1 FD swap. It's not cheap but it shortens all the gears - makes the car much more involving to drive on the road, as well as more accelerative in each gear... Obviously it has benefits on track as well, but yeah definitely worth considering anyway

Another voice to the suspension upgrade, KWs work extremely well and really transform the car. Good rubber is also a must , other than that just enjoy the car.

thanks all and appreciate the responses. decent rubber is one of the first things I done as it was on some horrid old tyres.
yes the OEM set up is 'twitchy' rather than just stiff. I am going for a geo set up , move to CSL settings and look at the suspension elements and bushes plus control arms etc.
car is on 98k and not sure if OEM stuff or been changed.

I would not go for poly gearbox mounts the vibration will be to much. I went with rouge engineering mounts that are an improvement over stock.

Defo agree with others re aftermarket suspension, I went with Bilstein B12 Pro-kit and couldn't believe how positively different the car felt after a proper geometry set up.
The other mod I'd recommend is the activation of DTC (via INPA coding) which enables more sideways action before the traction control kicks in. Probably one of my favourite mods
