Then £485 for the next four, then £165 but in five years you can guarantee it will have gone up to around the £500 mark again.
It's your own fault for being rich and buying expensive cars (official Government thinking that).
Same attitude with stamp duty and God help you if you are wealthy enough to buy a second property.
I used to be under the misguided impression that Conservative Governments ideals were 'you work hard you reap the benefits'. :(
It’s the same when they apply the rebates for energy costs. Band E and above get nothing. Have band E costs not gone up ? They certainly have and more !

Death and Taxes!
Don't start me on that one Ron, I can go into the local town and see terraced houses with brand new Audis on the drive and they get a rebate and I chose a better house and drive an older car but get nothing - basing the rebate on where you live is stupid as you can earn more than me but chose to live in a cheap house to have no mortgage so more disposable income

Plus I get jack for my £240 a month, rubbish collected and three street lights, I spend all last weekend repairing the road to the cottage as the council wont adopt it :headbang:

You're lucky Sean. I am in band F and pay £285 a month and because our cul-de-sac is unadopted our street lights are fed from MY garage supply at MY cost. And because I live in a 'conservation area' if I want to trim some crappy old trees, I have to apply to the council for permission and they insist on a feckin registered arborist to do it.

Some times it's good to be a pauper living in a Band D property!

But then as I'm the only occupant anything bigger would be a waste of space with higher bills.

Im in band F as well and I have the same mate - we get jack s**t for the council, they do absolutely zero where I live and its galling, even getting the recycling collected is hard work.

Cost us a fortune to constantly repair the road - its 1/2 mile long and no one does anything except the three houses up here

Something odd that makes down sizing from our current family home a pain, is that we would likely go up a band in council tax. :?

We have lived here a long time and extended the property. Those around us that have changed hands have had a band increase when sold.

Good old death and Taxes ahy.

Wasn't there a plan a while back to re-value all the houses again per council with a snooper coming around? Went a bit quiet.

There was about 15 years ago. A temp at work bought a new build a few streets down from us. Smaller than out place was, even when we originally bought it, yet a band higher. A right pretentious cow. She was clearly peeved, when I let slip ours was a lower band and told me she was going to get the council to re-band ours. I did worry for a time they might turn up but never happened. Maybe Mr star man will get us, if he ever gets in.

All well and good revaluing the houses but all that means is everyone from band A is gaining to end up n band C.

If you revalue then you have to move the bands to maintain the status quo

V12 Vantage 2d Auto (1 Jun 1999 - 28 Feb 2001) is £280.
No, they just keep messing it up!

Any car registered before 1 March 2001 fell into one of two brackets - up to 1,549 or over 1,549cc like those Astons.

Then Road Tax was based on CO2 emissions with Band K, L and M at the top, but all paying the same.

Until Gordon Brown decided in 2009 to punish Bands L and M and retrospectively introduce higher rates to cars registered after 23 March 2006 - so virtually all Z4Ms. :headbang:

Then effective from 1 April 2017 they came up with another idea and charged higher rates for the first 5 years, that were way higher if the car had a list price over £40K.

My sister bought a 2018 Fiat 500 Twin-air last year and has to pay £140 a year - if she had bought one registered before 1 April 2016 Road Tax would have been free. :headbang:

Logic doesn't seem to feature anywhere!
First years tax on the M40i is about a grand
That's not bad,Andy....our Merc Gla 250 AMG 4matic isn't much cheaper than that. Good thing it's just lumped into the buying cost of circa £40k(the Merc)...or in reality, just added to the cost of the Monthly payments, lol

Yes,they know how to charge does the DVLA

Laziness by the local Councils. They realised that re-banding properties when they sell is easier and cheaper, as the market does all the work for them.
It is still a lottery, depending on how diligent the Council is.
The banding criteria is also nonsense. I built a house and when signed off it was given a band E. I moved to a smaller house, which was £150,000 cheaper but had one more bedroom; band F. And yet 15 years ago I extended a house by 50% and gave it three extra bedrooms and two more bathrooms. Once signed off; no change. Go figure! :|

Our council tax went up and now they are looking to put a charge on, to empty the garden waste bins.
Just glad that we have a log burner and plenty of free wood, to do most of our heating.
Also glad that our main car is 0 tax too and still plenty of OT at work, if I want it.

We have had to pay extra for our garden waste for a couple of years now. We just put ours in bags and put it in the normal household bin in protest. A scattering of cat litter on top tends to stop anyone having a check to make sure that only household waste is in the bin
Rates are high enough without having to pay for additional services that used to be free.

When I first moved to this are in 2005 we bought a Garden Waste bin for £30 which would be emptied for free.

I moved away in 2007 and came back in 2011 and an annual charge had been introduced (£50 a year I think) or you could put it in biodegradable paper bags that you had to buy from the Council for 50p each. Then a few years ago they went up to £1 each.

I've been buying the bags but probably should get creative like Nanu!
