All About New

Post by Zed Head » Wed Mar 09, 2022 7:53 am

New to BMW brand, new to Z4 model, (almost new) 2022 fully loaded blacked out Z4 M40i on its way to me soon, from Texas! :D

I test drove a 2019 30 this morning and bought the 2022 40 this afternoon. Not as impulsive as it sounds - got on the list for a C8 Corvette in late August 21. sold my original owner 1999 C5 Corvette in Oct. 21.

Few days back had spring like day and was out for a ride in my buddies pristine 2008 Honda S2000. I looked at one before I bought my C5 but my lanky 6’4” frames would not fold-in an allow me to drive…certainly with no comfort. He commented that a coworker of his had a late model Z4 he had checked out and it was surprisingly roomie….fast forward to today.

I’m super stoked. :driving:

Welcome to the madness! Congratulations on your new purchase. FYI there is a BMW club in St. Louis if you interested just do a search. I live in Columbia Mo and it is a bit of a drive. So have not decided if joining or not. 90 min for a club meeting little far. But maybe some day. Again welcome and enjoy!

Although the Z4 was a great toy, when the opportunity came I ordered the C8… Now a month after getting it, I’m selling for about 15K over msrp… Too much money for a hobby car… not rich enough to use as a 100k daily driver..Chevrolet dealerships are not on the same level as BMW… With the possibility of a 6spd in 23, I just might end up back in a Z4…. :headbang:

Lovely looking C8 do you mean the possibility of a 6 spd Z4? Not seen that mentioned anywhere. If so any links/articles on it? Been mentioned of a manual Supra limited edition but not Z4 afaik

6 speed manual M40i confirmed for US market..not sure about other markets…Supra version has it..hence no big deal technically
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

I’m guessing the manual (if it’s happening) will land with the LCI. It may be a last ditch attempt to move some more units before the BMW roadster becomes extinct… not that they can actually successfully deliver one (based on my experience(!))

That C8 is lush, funny how you mention the C8 is an expensive toy, which made me think about the comparative US MRSP between the C8 and Z4 M40i, which is $65k/$73 (coupe/convertible) vs $63.7k respectively.
