Makes sense. They only have to make one smaller mould this way. Lets hope it makes a good amount on noise.
Thanks for the updates

That intake elbow is for the M3, wondering if the test fitting will be done on a Z4 or not.
Can you ask them if the the box will be available without the Karbonius graphics on top?

The elbow is the same geometry going onto the box between M3/Z4M, the difference on the Z4M is that it has the booster jet suction pump plug on the elbow itself and a blanking plug where the M3 connection is made to the box, as long as you reuse the Z4M items, is all the same (P&P). So you just need to reuse the elbow and take the blanking plug off your box and transfer it to the Karb. It should bolt right on, also Z4M has more space between the box and the strut tower than the M3.grannyknot wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 11:05 amThat intake elbow is for the M3, wondering if the test fitting will be done on a Z4 or not.

I'm pretty sure the M3 elbow comes out at a wider angle, here's a pic off my car, the elbow is close to 90 degrees.
I'm just thinking that Karbonius may not have access to a Z4M and might just assume they are the same, would hate to see the hornets nest that would happen if they don't fit a Z4.

That's a really good point - I'll check. Although, if the plenum is the same between cars, the Z4 elbow should take care of Z4-specific fitment from the plenum to the airbox?grannyknot wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 10:57 pm I'm pretty sure the M3 elbow comes out at a wider angle, here's a pic off my car, the elbow is close to 90 degrees.

This looks like a work of art
According to the go to source of realoem.com, the plenum chamber aka Air collector is the same across the E46 M3, E36/8 Z3M and our Z4M as they share the same part number 11617835819, so maybe it'll work

Me too now that I've finally caught up on the thread, hoping the sound testing comes up trumps...

I asked Karbonius and they advised they will be testing on an M3 but that because the plenum lines up exactly (hopefully, testing pending) with all the standard plenum fixings, adding the Z4M elbow should then connect to all the Z4M parts upstream. They didn't seem concerned.///MBan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 11:05 pmThat's a really good point - I'll check.
